As a growing business, we are always looking for new self employed drivers in certain areas of the country. Obviously a suitable, clean van is required and a mobile phone.
Working with Nationwide Book Buyers, we would establish a collection round of charity shops / libraries within your area to collect from, which would need to be covered over a set timescale according to the size of the round.
You would act as a courier on behalf of our business and simply call, weigh, collect and load the books into your van and then return them to your storage location, where you would securely place the boxes onto a pallet, shrink wrap and band them and arrange for our haulier to collect them – you would need to be able to hold around six pallets at any time.
Collecting boxes of books isn’t as simple as it sounds! It’s generally very hard work! In a working day, you would be need to be able to carry up to two tonnes of books! Sometimes there are down stairs and difficult access situations.
You need to be a polite, clean and presentable person whom is physically fit and be able to complete basic mathematic functions and complete paperwork etc.
Most places prefer to be paid in cash on collection, therefore you would need a start up cash capital of around £5000 for a full month’s payments. You would invoice us monthly, sending all your completed paperwork with it and this would be turned around within 14 days.
We would help and support you with a start up package including scales, collection notes etc.
You would also need to provide some back up cover for yourself in case of holidays / sickness etc.
